Can anyone tell me what the difference is between setting up SNMP from Devices > Setup > Operations > SNMP Setup and Device > Server Profiles > SNMP Traps?
I'm also trying to understand the difference between SNMP Polling and Traps as it relates to Palo Alto Firewalls. I understand the basic difference between SNMP Polling and Traps, just not when it comes to configuring one vs the other on Palo Firewalls.
Both incoming snmp monitoring and outbound snmp traps have their own authentication settings Netflow as of currently doesn't have a way to include authentication
How can I set up and have different passwords for multiple things that require SNMP, say Netflow to one product and an SNMP manager as another product.
It seems I can't figure out the combination on which (the former or the latter) to change so that they point to both of those products but have different passwords.
The former is 'system' monitoring configuration, the latter are log forwarding traps The former is used from a monitoring decide to poll the device for environmental (etc.) Data like throughputs, packet counters, device health The latter is used as a log forwarding action when a log is generated in the device > log settings option you pick (system, user id,...)
