PAN-OS 9.1.x to 10.1.X - recommendations and tips for upgrades
Hello, how are you, as always thank you for your time and collaboration.
Currently a customer has a M-200 9.1.14 platform and all his firewalls on 9.1.14.
For me the version, personal opinion based on what I have seen of PAN so far, the most stable version and that has given me less headaches is 9.1.
I understand that version 9.1.X will be end of life December 13, 2023. Well I think it's time to think about Upgrade since I don't think they will extend its life time, I hope so....
Well with respect to this, thinking in M-200 9.1.14 platform with 12 Firewalls in HA, that is to say 6 HA A/P, which would be the recommendation in this case for the Upgrade ? 10.1.x I think that it must be the most stable, therefore it is necessary to pass from 9.1 to 10.X and then to 10.1.X recommended version. With this, what tips, considerations, attention and focus are recommended when making this step from a critical platform for the client in 9.1.X to 10.1.X.
Thank you, I remain attentive, best regards
I don't know if you ever did the upgrade or not, but I would personally avoid 10.1.x like the plague!
Always start with the panorama, then the log collectors, then do the firewalls from least critical to most critical, or critical first (in case of urgent hotfixes) and then do the rest in a different window.
