PAN-OS 7.1.X to 10.1.X
Good evening colleagues, colleagues and friends:
I have a new question, it is related to a migration issue.
I need to migrate HA from 7.1.X Platform 5060 to Platform PA-5250 ( HA ) version 10.1.X.
I have not had to migrate from a version so low, 7.1.X I think, as always, extract the config file from the PA-5060 version 7.1.X and load it on the new hardware with version 10.1.X.
I have had to do this similar with version 8.0 to 9.1 without problems, from 9.0 to 10.0 without problems, 8.0 to 10.0 without problems. When loading the config files in some cases I have had to do some minor debugging but nothing serious or very complex. Based on your great experience, are there any details, warnings or special care that I should have and consider when it comes to version 7.1.X to version 10.1? Do you have any recommendation, independent of the traditional, let's say the correct mapping of interfaces, zones, etc, in relation to this migration of the config from 7.1.X to new hardware with version 10.1.X? I will have a possible "surprise" thinking of a config from such a minor version.
Thank you very much for your great help and support.
Best regards
Between 7.1 and 10.1 the config file has seen some serious overhauls The "components" are mostly the same but have been moved around etc. You can always give it a shot and cross your fingers, and if it fails move on to more interactive methods ;) If you have a "sacrificial" device laying around somewhere that you could use to "naturally" (by means of upgrading the host) transition the config file from 7.1 to 10.1, that would probably be preferred If you're comfortable with xml editors and the config is not too complex, a copy-paste job between the original 7.1 and a clean 10.1 would also be an option.
